The Proposal

When ever I mention to anyone I am engaged one of the first things they normally ask is 'how did he do it?'. Well, the story goes like this...
  1. Like the true gentlemen he is, he asked my Dad's permission first
  2. It was the 7th January and our anniversary weekend
  3. We were away in our university home of Lincoln at the lovely Old Bakery
  4. I wasn't feeling very well and looked a mess: nose blocked, hair like a birds nest, and scruffy clothes
  5. He got down on one knee in the middle of our hotel room and asked me to marry him
  6. I said 'of course', surely the answer was obvious, but he was very relieved
  7. We rang our nearest and dearest to deliver the news, and then had a fantastic meal at the Old Bakery
Sorry for the bad quality but this is 'the' room

In all honesty, it has taken me a while to get used to the idea of being engaged. Several times I have said to Carl I don't think I can do it - having to walk down the isle in front of lots of people seems like a really bad idea. But I am finally feeling excited. I'm sure the nerves will come back in the lead up to the big day, but we are going to enjoy our engagement for as long as possible before that time comes.

xx
